Do they see me or the tree?

Romans 11:17-24 Bible Study Notes (PS- I’m a terrible speller. Lol)

Romans ll: 17-24

Overview:

• God is the root.

• Jews are the original branches.

• Gentiles are the grafted on branches.

– Root’s purpose is to bring nourishment to the branches.

• without the root, there is no life.

– Branches are the visible signs of a good root.

• What do you usually see first when you look at a plant or tree?

– the branches and the fruit / leaves.

So what would happen if the branch tried to take credit for the good fruit?

# 1. can’t produce w/o the root.

# 2. would wither without nourishment from the root.

# 3. If there was only one single (even good producing) branch, the tree would appear scrawny and weak.

– This tells me that God intended for a full tree.

– we are but a scrawny branch if we think we serve a purpose any

greater than any other branch.

• The Kingdom of God is meant to be seen in the fullness of HIS glory, not the fullness of yours.

A Question to Ask ourselves:

° When the world looks at our life, do they see a branch or do they see the tree?
