Weary Traveler

There’s one thing about traveling, I only start longing for home when I grow tired of the hustle & bustle.

When I’m tired of hauling 5 million things to the beach.
When I’m exhausted from walking through stores or down streets lined with gift shops at the mountains.
When I’m really sick of car rides.

That’s when pulling back up at home feels so good & refreshing.

Something on my heart recently is how tired I am of the hustle & bustle.
Exhausted from walking the streets lined with “gifts” this world keeps marketing to us as desperately needed.
Sick of struggling with the bumpy ride of sin.

I use to ask God for more time here. Living it up was pretty fun. I wanted to experience things here before heaven. Before “giving up life”.

But friend, I’m homesick.

Of all the things 2020 has brought, it’s given me one of my greatest blessings: un-comfort.

I don’t long for more days here.
I live more days here longing.

It’s that how it’s suppose to be?
Longing for home?
For comfort?
To fall into our Father’s arms?

But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, – Philippians 3:20

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. – 1 John 2:15

Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation. 1 Peter 2:11-12

But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city. Hebrews 11:16

I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. John 17:14

God,

Thank you for making me uncomfortable here. You tell us this world is not our home, & I’m feeling the eviction notice now more than ever before. Give us the courage to fight for our faith in you. To stand when we are silenced. To rise when we are ridiculed. To persist when we are persecuted.
We need you.

I can’t wait to see you.

❤ Amen
